Exploring Padua Between Nature and History
The Route and the Experience
The tour winds along Padua’s main waterways (Bacchiglione, Tronco Maestro, Scaricatore, and Piovego), offering privileged observation points:
- The Portages: You will be able to watch live the most technical moments of the race, where athletes exit the water carrying their boats on their shoulders to overcome the locks.
- The Riverside Perspective: A scenic passage through the heart of the historic city, cycling in the shadow of ancient walls and historic bridges.
Special Stop: Golena San Massimo
The beating heart of the Bike Tour will be the stop at Golena San Massimo, an area where nature and the history of Padua meet:
- Guided Tour of the Bastion: Thanks to a special collaboration with the Comitato Mura di Padova, cyclists will be able to get off their bikes for a guided tour inside the Bastione di San Massimo. You will explore the casemates and the 16th-century defensive system, discovering how water played a fundamental role in protecting the city.
- Refreshment in the Golena: This is also where the official refreshment point is set up. Participants can recharge with snacks and drinks in a festive atmosphere, enjoying the passage of boats gliding along the Piovego canal just a few meters away.
In Summary
- Distance: About 22 km (flat, on cycle paths and riverbanks).
- Highlights: Passage through the historic center, visit to the bastions, and observation of the portages.
- Main Stop: Golena San Massimo (Tour + Refreshment).
- Goal: Promote sustainable mobility and the inseparable connection between Padua and its waterways.
A tip: Bring your camera! The combination of historic walls and hundreds of colorful boats in the canal is one of the most photogenic sights of the year.
Limited spots: up to 50 participants.
