For the 2026 Padova Water Marathon, scheduled for May 3rd, the PWM Bike Tour is being launched, an experience designed for those who want to follow the rowing marathon from a different and dynamic perspective. It’s not just a ride, but an engaging way to follow the race along the city’s banks, becoming a true traveling fan base among canoes, kayaks, and SUPs.
The route, approximately 22 km long and completely flat, winds along Padua’s main waterways—the Bacchiglione, Tronco Maestro, Scaricatore, and Piovego—passing through picturesque landscapes and the historic center. Along the way, participants will be able to witness the race’s most spectacular moments, such as the transshipments, where athletes emerge from the water with their boats on their shoulders to pass through the locks, as well as pedaling along the historic waterfronts, immersed in the city’s unique atmosphere.
The highlight of the experience will be a stop at the Golena San Massimo, where a guided tour of the Bastione will be offered in collaboration with the Padova Walls Committee. Here, visitors will discover the 16th-century defensive structures and the role of water in the city’s history. A refreshment area will also be set up in the same area, ideal for a convivial break while watching the boats pass by just a few meters away.
The participation fee is €15 and includes event registration, the presence of companions, a guided tour, refreshments, and a discount for a “La Via dei Berici” event, which will be communicated upon registration. Space is limited to 50 participants.
A word of advice: bring your camera. Among historic walls, canals, and hundreds of colorful boats, the PWM Bike Tour is one of the most evocative and photogenic events of the Padua spring.
